These are DRAFT pieces.

I'm currently revising them for the upcoming LilyPond 2.12. Wait a week or so.

These pieces are almost finished. The musical content will probably not change, unless it's a minor fix. That doesn't mean that I'm completely happy with the music, but I would prefer to publish most of my old pieces "as is". They can serve as a record of my changing compositional style over the years; it will give musicology scholars something to do. :)

The main reason for making these pieces available is to gather comments about the typography. LilyPond can produce beautiful music, so I feel that I should make sure that my scores are as clear as possible. Besides, if I want musicians to treat my work seriously, I should treat my work seriously.

Please let me know if you see any mistakes in these scores. I don't want to have "viola duets version 1.43, string quartet version 1.2" floating around; once a piece is finished, I want it to be finished. As a result, I want to find as many mistakes as possible right now. Even if it's something as small as "I think there's too much space in front of the copyright symbol on page 2," I'd like to hear about it.

Op 1 - Five Pieces for Three Cellos

Fun pieces for cellos, in non-classical styles. Some are rock-ish, others are folk-ish, and one is a bit weird-ish.

Op 2 - Eight Bagatelles for Two Violas

These pieces were written while I was learning viola, as fun study pieces. They can be played individually or in any order; this is a collection of individual pieces, not one large work in eight sections.

Op 3 - Percival's Chaconne(s)

We all know Pachelbel's Canon. And we (cellists) all hate it. Here's our revenge: the first violin plays the same four bars over and over, while the cello plays the melody. Two movements, for string quartet.

Op 4 - Waves: Three Etudes for String Quartet

There are many studies and etudes for individual instrument practice, but few (or none) which practice ensemble playing. Here are three pieces (cos(x), sin(x), and tan(x)) for string quartet which focus on handing a musical line from player to player. They're beautiful pieces, too!
